Carmelo Kiyan Anthony (born May 29, 1984), nicknamed "Melo", is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the New York Knicks in theNational Basketball Association (NBA). After a successful high school career atTowson Catholic High School and Oak Hill Academy, Anthony attended Syracuse University for college where he led the Orangemen to their first National Championship in 2003. He earned the tournament's Most Outstanding Player award and was named the Most Valuable Player of NCAA East Regional. After one season at Syracuse University, Anthony left college to enter the 2003 NBA Draft, where he was selected as the third pick by the Nuggets. He was traded to the Knicks several days prior to the 2011 trade deadline.
Since entering the NBA, Anthony has emerged as one of the most well-known and popular players in the league. He was named to the All-Rookie team, to the All-Starteam five times and to the All-NBA team five times. Anthony led the Nuggets to two division titles and to the playoffs every year from 2004 to 2010. In 2009, he helped the Nuggets advance to the Conference Finals for the first time since 1985. As a member of the USA National Team, Anthony won a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics and a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics.

A 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m) small forward, he is an NBA champion, NBA Finals MVP, three-time NBA MVP, and NBA Rookie of the Year. One of Miami's co-captains, he is an eight-time NBA All-Star and has earned eight All-NBA honors and four All-Defensive honors.
Nicknamed "King James", James had a storied high school basketball career at St. Vincent – St. Mary High School in his hometown of AkronOhio. A three-time "Mr. Basketball of Ohio", he was highly promoted in the national media as a future NBA superstar. After graduating, he was selected with the first overall pick of the 2003 NBA Draft by his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers. In 2010, he left the Cavaliers for the Heat in a highly publicized free agency period. In 2012, he led Miami to their second ever NBA title, winning his first overall. His list of achievements and leadership during the Heats' 2012 championship run have led many basketball analysts, experts, and writers to consider him the best player in the NBA today.[1][2][3]
Off the court, James has accumulated considerable wealth and fame as a result of numerous endorsement contracts. His public life has been the subject of much scrutiny, and he has been ranked as one of America's most disliked and influential athletes. Rajon Pierre Rondo (born February 22, 1986) is an American professionalbasketball point guard with the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association(NBA). Born in LouisvilleKentucky, Rondo attended Eastern High School and Oak Hill Academy for his high-school basketball career, before receiving a scholarship from the University of Kentucky. He played for two years at Kentucky before declaring for the 2006 NBA Draft, represented by agent Bill Duffy.
During the draft, Rondo was selected 21st overall by the Phoenix Suns, and was subsequently traded to the Boston Celtics, where he made his NBA debut as a rookie during the 2006–07 season. He played a supporting role before he established himself as the starting point guard for the Celtics during the 2007–08 season. That season, Rondo earned his first NBA Championship, playing alongside All-Stars Kevin GarnettRay Allen and Paul Pierce. His breakout performance came during the 2009 NBA Playoffs, where he nearly averaged a triple-double, and helped his team take the eventual Eastern-conference champion Orlando Magic seven games in the Eastern semi-finals.[1] He ranks eighth in Celtics history in assists and fifth in steals.

Dirk Werner Nowitzki (born June 19, 1978) is a German professional basketball player who plays for the Dallas Mavericksof the National Basketball Association (NBA). An alumnus of Röntgen Gymnasiumand DJK Würzburg basketball club, Nowitzki was drafted ninth overall by theMilwaukee Bucks in the 1998 NBA Draft, and was immediately traded to the Mavericks, where he has played ever since. Standing 7 ft 0 in (2.13 m), Nowitzki plays the power forward position but also has the athleticism and shooting ability to play the other frontcourt positions, center and small forward.
Nowitzki has led the Mavericks to 12 consecutive NBA Playoffs (20012012), including an NBA Finals appearance in 2006 and the franchise's first championship in2011. He is an 11-time All-Star and 12-time member of the All-NBA Teams, and the first European-born player in NBA history to receive the NBA Most Valuable Player Award.[1] He is the first Maverick ever to be voted into an All-NBA Team and also holds several all-time Mavericks franchise records.[2] Only Nowitzki and three other players have ever averaged more than 25 points and 10 rebounds in the NBA playoffs, and only Nowitzki and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar have managed 4 consecutive 30-point, 15-rebound games in the playoffs. Additionally, Nowitzki is the only player in NBA history to get 100 blocks and 150 3-pointers in a single season.[2]
Nowitzki led the German national basketball team to a bronze medal in the 2002 FIBA World Championship and the silver medal in EuroBasket 2005, and was leading scorer and elected Most Valuable Player in both tournaments. Nowitzki has been a nine-time European Player of the Year. He was named the Euroscar European Basketball Player of the Year by the Italian sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sportfor five years in a row from 2002 to 2006 and again in 2011.[3] He was also named theMister Europa European Player of the Year by the Italian sports magazineSuperbasket in 2005, and the FIBA Europe Basketball Player of the Year twice in 2005 and 2011.[2]
On December 18, 2011 he was named the 2011 German Sportspersonality of the Year for the first time.[4]

 Kobe Bean Bryant (born August 23, 1978) is an American professional basketballplayer who plays shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Bryant enjoyed a successful high school basketball career at Lower Merion High School, where he was recognized as the top high school basketball player in the country. He decided to declare his eligibility for theNBA Draft upon graduation, and was selected with the 13th overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets, then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. As a rookie, Bryant earned himself a reputation as a high-flyer and a fan favorite by winning the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest.
Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal led the Lakers to three consecutive NBA championshipsfrom 2000 to 2002A heated feud between the duo and a loss in the 2004 NBA Finals was followed by O'Neal's trade from the Lakers after the 2003–04 season. Following O'Neal's departure Bryant became the cornerstone of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise. He led the NBA in scoring during the 2005–06 and 2006–07seasons, setting numerous scoring records in the process. In 2006, Bryant scored a career-high 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, the second most points scored in a single game in NBA history, second only to Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game in 1962. After losing in the 2008 NBA Finals, Bryant led the Lakers to two consecutive championships in 2009 and 2010, earning the NBA Finals MVP Award on both occasions.

He is also the all-time leading scorer in Lakers franchise history. Since his second year in the league, Bryant has been selected to start every NBA All-Star Game that has been held in the last fourteen years. He has won the All-Star MVP Award four times (20022007,2009, and 2011), tying him for the most All Star MVP Awards in NBA history. He is a 14-time member of the All-NBA team and an 12-time member of the All-Defensiveteam; he is also the youngest player ever to receive defensive honors. At the 2008 Olympics, he won a gold medal as a member of the USA national team. In 2009,Sporting News and TNT named Bryant the top NBA player of the 2000s decade.
In 2003, Bryant was accused of sexual assault after having sex with a hotel employee in Colorado. In September 2004, prosecutors dropped the case after his accuser refused to testify. A civil suit was later filed and settled out of court.
PBA: Clutch Elastopainters get come-from-behind win over BMEG

Gabe Norwood nailed a crucial three to break a 92-all deadlock in the last two minutes of the extra period to propel the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters over last conference's champs, the B-MEG Llamados in their PBA Governor's Cup debut, 100-94, Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.


It was a team effort for the Elastopainters, as Ryan Araña scored five straight to tie the game at 88 in the fourth period to send the game in to overtime. Just a minute prior, BMEG enjoyed a five point lead before Rain or Shine tightened their defense to prevent a Llamados basket.

It was a seesaw battle the whole game, as Rain or Shine jumped on to an early 26-18 lead in the first quarter.

A Norwood long bomb put Rain or Shine ahead 12 points, 31-19, but it was a Jervy Cruz layup that gave the Elastopainters a commanding 16-point advantage, 40-24.Marqus Blakely and JC Intal teamed up to bring BMEG closer, as the Elastopainters lead dwindled to two at the half, 42-40. Blakely picked up from where he left off in the second, scoring at will to put BMEG ahead, 50-45.

A PJ Simon triple with less than two minutes left in the third gave BMEG a nine-point lead, 63-54, as Paul Lee tried to keep Rain or Shine afloat with his own long bomb to cut the the BMEG lead to six, 64-48, to end the third quarter.

In the final period, the two teams continued to trade shots. Yancy De Ocampo gave BMEG some breathing room at 80-76, but a Beau Belga triple brought the Elastopainters within striking distance with under four minutes left, 80-81.PJ Simon scored four straight, before Lee completed an and one play in the final two minutes. An Araña three cut BMEG's lead to two.

The former Green Archer was not done, as he tipped in his own miss to tie the game with less than two minutes left in the game. James Yap was given 4.5 seconds to win unleash his heroics for the Llamados, but last conference's Finals MVP missed the game-winning triple as the game went to overtime.Yancy De Ocampo started the scoring in the extra period, 90-88. But Belga and Blakely partnered up to tie the game at 90. With 1:41 remaining, Gabe Norwood sank a three to finally put Rain or Shine in the driver's seat.A Jeff Chan turnover with 18 seconds remaining gave BMEG a chance to cut a four-point lead, 98-94, but a De Ocampo miss forced BMEG to send Lee to the line to seal the win for the Elastopainters, 100-94.

"It's just a big advantage for us to play them on their first game. They missed some guys. We're trying to learn to win those games it's a good test for us. This is a test for us to close out games and play a championship team in BMEG. The key to contending is try to win as many games as you can very early in the conference," said Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao.
